Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides healthcare to over half a million people from North Tyneside to the Scottish Border and to Hexham and Haltwhistle in the west of Northumberland.
We have worked closely with Northumbria Healthcare since 2008 to support their trust-wide patient experience survey programme.
We carry out surveys of inpatients, outpatients, A&E, maternity, young patients, psychiatry of old age, local integrated networks, admission avoidance and district nursing services.
The largest surveys are of inpatients and outpatients:
Inpatients. Our inpatient surveys, of approximately 10,000 patients a year, are designed to provide reliable results at trust, site, speciality and ward level.
Outpatients. Our outpatient surveys, of approximately 25,000 patients a year, are designed to provide reliable results at trust, site, speciality, clinic and individual consultant level.
Monthly: Each month the Trust receives statistical tables showing results at trust, site, speciality, ward, clinic and consultant level. Trends and national benchmarks are shown for key performance indicators.
Quarterly: Every quarter the Trust receives a detailed analysis that shows its performance on Key Performance Indicators against historic data and national benchmarks. Good performance is identified and areas for improvement highlighted.
Annually: An end of year report summarises the whole year looking at national comparisons and any important variations within the quality of service provided.
Since we began working with Northumbria Healthcare, their national results have improved dramatically. In 2015 they won “Overall Best Trust” at the Patient Experience Network National Awards.
