New guide for commissioners highlights areas for improvement in inpatient services
A new toolkit has been published by NHS England to help commissioners improve experience of in-patient care.
The guide states: “Over the recent years the national in-patient survey results have been generally consistent, with small incremental improvements for many questions, but those aspects where patients report poorer experiences nationally remain areas where further improvement is needed.”
The areas that are highlighted for improvement nationally are:
- Being treated with Respect and Dignity
- Hospital Food
- Noise at Night from Hospital Staff
- Involvement in decisions about care and treatment
- Privacy when being treated
- Information Giving and Consistency
- Infection Prevention
- Discharge Processes
Commissioners are encouraged to work with Trusts locally to drive further improvements in these areas where necessary.
