Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Patient Perspective
Stephen Bruster founded Patient Perspective in 2006, an organisation dedicated to carrying out high quality research with patients and staff that leads to quality improvement. Stephen oversees all of the work of Patient Perspective. Patient Perspective is an approved survey contractor to the national patient survey programmes in England (for the CQC) and Scotland (to the Scottish Government).
Surveys carried out by Stephen in 1992 were the first to show evidence that “satisfaction” surveys give an overly positive view that hides genuine room for improvement. As a result patient surveys are now more likely to focus on reporting on “what happens” rather than rating satisfaction.
Stephen established Picker Institute in the UK in 1998 and as the UK survey manager from 1998-2004 ran all the patient surveys at Picker Institute. He was involved in establishing national patient survey advice centres in England for acute, primary care, mental health and long-term conditions surveys.
Steve is based in our Cornwall office.
